With this significant responsibility in mind, Ames Tile & Stone Ltd. makes the following Environmental Statement an essential part of our corporate business objective and operating philosophy.

• Education
  To educate all of our employees at Ames Tile & Stone Ltd. on the content of this Environmental Statement and encourage them to practice these environmental policies on the job and at home. Additionally, we seek employee input to identify new ways to advance our Environmental Policies and recognize innovative and superior efforts.
  
• Environmental Impact
  Identify and understand the direct and indirect impact that the Ames Tile & Stone Ltd's facilities, operations, business practices, products and services may have on health, safety and the environment. Identify potential areas of concern and develop pro-active guidelines to correct these concerns immediately.
  
• Waste Disposal
  Support, perform and participate in all areas of recycling where at all possible. Engage in the separation of plastics, cardboard, wood and office paper and drink containers as well as ensuring that recycling occurs through the use of organizations specializing in these fields.
  
• Water and Energy
  To implement, improve, standardize and review all water and energy conservation possibilities in all existing operations and to encourage others to follow these practices. Invest in technologies and systems that enhance water and energy conservation. Include these conservations as an integral part of all planning for future projects and facilities.
  
• Purchasing
  Developing and maintaining a relationship with selected vendors both domestically and internationally to ensure that we maintain a high level of commitment from them as far as using recycled materials and environmentally friendly processes to produce their finished products. Ensure the most environmentally economical modes of transportation are used, and that the production of goods are done using safe and ethical business practices. Several of these considerations can be found within designations forwarded by organizations such as LEED, Build Green Life and Eco-Label. Look for the EcoTile logo at Ames, designating green products.
  
• Accountability and Evaluation
  Support, encourage and enable all staff and managers to implement these environmental policies. Empower each branch how to adapt and adopt the strategies consistent with the environmental objectives stated in this policy. Hold each branch accountable for performance and measurement results. Provide objective standards for measuring the environmental performance of individual branches as well as the Company as a whole.
